toadly photo album

[December 14th 2008]

Wow. I'm finally finished with this HUGE section of my website. Over the past 8 years I've taken in excess of 10,000 digital photos.

It all started mid December in the year 2000. Christina bought me my first digital camera. An Olympus C-3030 Zoom. This old beast featured an amazing 3.3 Megapixel sensor and an optical zoom still popular today, 3x. A real tank of a camera, I got by with this bad boy until Christmas of 2005!

Canon PowerShot SD500

Five years and millions of pixels later the Olympus was replaced by a Canon PowerShot SD500. This was by far my favorite camera. A tank in its' own right (albeit a small one), this camera had a 7.1 megapixel sensor and again sported a 3x zoom. Ultimately the convenience of this camera was its' own demise. Because of its tiny form-factor, I took it everywhere...maybe places it should have never been. Undoubtedly on one of my falls at the slopes, I cracked the LCD screen. The camera still works, but the the LCD is a no go. This just would not do.

The Canon got me by (even broken) up until about October of 2008.
Panasonic Lumix TZ5
I replaced it with a yet to be determined of worthiness, Panasonic Lumix TZ5. In terms of size, this camera sits somewhere between my two previous cameras. What was most attractive about this camera was the 10x optical zoom. The sensor is 9.1 megapixels and it actually takes HD video at 1280x720. I've had some trouble with image quality, and I fear this camera may require more finesse than what I'm used to or willing to participate in. Time shall tell.

Enough jibber jabber about cameras. Go check out some photos using the menu to the right. The most recent years album (currently 2008) will always display the newest photos at the top. All previous years are in chronological order from January to December.
